Description
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 24"x 12"x1.5"
Year: 2005
Status: SOLD
Artist Statement:
"On this piece I worked with acrylic on canvas and used brushes as well as a little bit of finger painting. I was experimenting with using some narrative in my abstract painting.
The foreground bodies represent cancer cells, which as a cancer survivor, have had a profound effect on my life. Picasso believed that one could conquer their fears by depicting them in paint – and that’s something I considered when working on these pieces.
The words “surgeon general’s warning” on the Cancer 1 are a reflection of the warnings on tobacco products, which are too often ignored."
